It should be required viewing for EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF OUR HOUSE AND SENATE, our FBI at every level, and our CIA at every level. To say nothing of EVERY citizen.

Absolutely. 9/11 has become a distant memory for most U.S. citizens. Since there has not been a domestic terrorist attack for over three years, the immediacy of the ongoing threat has been muted.

People seem to have forgotten the fear and confusion of the period immediately after 9/11. The "debate" over Gonzalez and the so-called "torture" memos is a good example of our collective short memory span. Immediately after 9/11 there was a rather heated discussion in the press as to the appropriateness of using aggressive tactics - torture - to extract information that could conceivably be used to prevent another terrorist event. The memos reflect the concerns of that period. Gee, could politics be playing a role here?

I recall reading in late 2001 or early 2002 a report (I think that the reporter was Bob Woodward) about how GWB was fixated on the prospect of a radiological attack.

On the plus side, I seriously doubt that our first responders have let their guard down, though I have my doubts as to how prepared we are for the type of attack portrayed in the movie.

One of the things that made the movie so chilling was the fact that it made an attempt to humanize the terrorists and provide some insight into their motivation.

HBO has put the film into heavy rotation. I have made it a point of emailing all of my friends and encouraging them to watch it.
