That is what I have heard and also it was picked up and encouraged for the down-trodden masses during the dark-ages for people to hang onto during their miserable life here on Earth. Then they would have 'something better' to look 'forward to' if they only hung on for their masters.

But at any rate, it seems like religion in the wrong hands, has always been used to manipulate the masses for war, slavery, theft, etc. or some other type of exploitation. :( What ever serves the 'masters or exploiters.'
