The problem is the system,

You are the IT person. How difficult would it be to design, develop, and implement a system using TCPIP. All you would then need are some PC's that are either in the voting booth and or you could bring your own. For some people, they would get touch screens.

When you register to vote, you would get a user ID and password. When you come in to vote on the day of the election, you would get another password.

This wouldn't be expensive at all. There would be an audit trail. I don't think anybody could get through all the security that you would design into the system.

I don't know you at all except for what you do here on SI.

I bet you could design and develop this system.

Knowing you, I know you are going to answer with a lot of yada, yadas, but I would have no doubts that you could do it.
