Has there been any discussion on the repatriation of billions of US dollars by multinational corporations? On reading the Contrary Investor Report this week, this seems to be a huge bonus for the dollar. I have to wonder if the $80 billion of purchases of US assets in November by foreigners wasn't done in advance of the "potential" $500 billion that the multinationals will purchase of US dollars this year.

Does any one expect this to be a big rally in the US dollar or will foreign governments sell into the multinational buying making it a relative non event. In any case, this could keep the credit markets very supplied for the next 9 months or so.
