Oh, heavens, I am just talking off the top of my head. I have no links. Historically, though, you cannot stop democracy. The fall of the Berlin Wall is proof of that. Look what has happened in Vietnam and China, both far removed from Eastern Europe. They have opened up, realizing how to butter their bread.

The same thing will eventually happen in the Middle East. I am not saying Israel and the Arabs will live happily ever after next year, but there has been a shift - because we invaded Iraq and toppled Saddam Hussein. We might be hated over there right now by many, but we were hated in Vietnam when that war ended. We were hated in Japan when that war ended. When we toppled Saddam with such ease, look what happened in Libya and Syria. Gaddafi quickly gave up the Lockerbie murderers and wants to rejoin the international community. Syria started making noises of kicking out the terrorists. Whether or not this is lip service remains to be seen. But they get it.

Now Arab TV is blasting election news all over the Middle East. This is a good thing.

Economically, I cannot see any downside.
