The power hour came late to the party. Numerous clips showing the flashes have been floating around the Internet for years.

That's probably about where I am with it also. I've looked at those photos more than a few times and hadn't picked up on that part before. Maybe the pieces were bent on the way down. Or maybe the goofs at NIST picked pieces from the exit hole, rather than the entrance. Or maybe the side of the building exploded right before the plane hit, which is what the Naudet footage appears to show.

The official acid rain theory always struck me as far fetched. Of the possible explanations I've seen, I probably lean more toward the cause being the aluminum sheathing being bolted to the steel columns. Aluminum and steel are VERY incompatible in contact with each other. The metals disintegrate. IMO, that would go a long way toward explaining why the WTC was picked as a target, why every building in the complex was destroyed, and partly why the evidence had to be destroyed as soon as possible. If every other column has Swiss Cheese holes where it was attached to the aluminum, it was potentially becoming a very unsafe building after 30 years of deterioration at the connecting points. Having to take the towers down piece by piece would have been a bigger scandal than Enron.
