Excellent question! All the pop psychology in the world doesn't seem to explain why professionals with PhDs from MIT and enough money to buy the planet couldn't hire someone to figure out price elasticity of demand. People of that caliber simply don't make the kinds of silly mistakes that have been suggested, plausibly denied, not admitted, or counter accusations made about, etc. imho.
