zita-

i thought long and hard about the epiphany
(subconsciously) and decided that over-analyzing
it sort of betrayed the premise. so i'll just keep
it simple... like i responded to raven off the
top of my head...

(remember that this is just about going to mexico
and not the broader "crossing the river" concept
that we've stretched it into here in the NNBM bar.)

"you and i know that there is a cultural difference
when you cross 'the river'. maybe the difference is
that in the USA, money is the king of motivation so
time equals money. in mexico, personal relationships
are the king and time equals personal relationships, eh?"

there are a thousand things to analyze about why this is
true and how debits and credits accrue and are redeemed
in a country where the great majority of people will
NEVER see much MONEY in their lives... but in the
abbreviated sense - without all the analysis - i really
enjoy my slow time spent in that environment on the other
side of the river cultivating personal relationships.

i suspect it's the same motivation that scott and yen
find in their work in vietnam. i hope that they always keep
CTH "personal relationship" based and that they never succumb
to transferring its driving forces solely to monetary
efficiencies to attract and please donors. i think mr. hung
will keep them on the right track as far as that goes.
