"You develop very intimate relationships with your patients

I really mean, I develop an intimate relationship with my multiple trips overseas, and my spouse will divorce me if I don't rake in what she's become accustomed to..

There's as much psycho-social support as anything else going on, and that's important."

Bull!..some of the best treatments are only available in 'terrbily cold hospitals' with staff that in my anecdotal experience give warm, humane care who become part of your family and life..

ASCO has been perpetuating this fear among patients, encouraging physicians to send patients to the hospitals to 'make a point'...what they are doing is imho, reprehensible..

Any oncologist who makes a medicare patient pay for his chemo should be fired..period..

This pushes a red hot button for me..I've been receiving constant 'updates' from ASCO about their discourse with the CMS, 'guiding' oncologists through this 'challenging time'..so disingenuous regarding their 'looking after patients'..their bottom line is all that matters..I resent it when these non-profits use the vulnerable recipients of their services as pawns...

End of rant!
