mPhase CEO Reports Progress with New Services and Deployments
Monday January 31, 1:02 pm ET

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2005--mPhase Technologies (OTC: XDSL - News) CEO, Ron Durando reported progress to shareholders in all three areas of the business in an electronic newsletter to current and potential investors. Highlights of the report included:

A newly announced As You Like It (TM) Service Creation Platform is Fueling Industry Buzz. In the past few weeks, we announced strategic alliances with several partners, each of whom is enabling us to enhance the mPhase TV+ System's value for telephone network operators worldwide. Following our agreement to offer our customers an integrated video head-end from market leader Sky Stream Networks, we're now adding other key elements for a comprehensive end-to-end solution for telco TV. Specifically:

* mPhase announced carrier-class network security features with the Security+ Feature Package, enabled with an integration of technology from Ranch Networks, a leader in the field of Internet Protocol-based network security.
* We added Triveni Digital as a reseller partner, so that with the As You Like It solution, our telephone company customers can quickly modify, update, customize, and target programming and program-related information to specific subscribers. By increasing the value of this information, telcos can differentiate their services offerings from cable and satellite companies.
* Targeted content programs can open new opportunities for telcos to sell advertising to defined audience segments and we're now able to enhance this competitive advantage of the mPhase TV+ System through a strategic alliance with Espial Group, the leading provider of rapidly customizable software for the user interface.

As the Telco TV picture puzzle is completed, customer interactions are increasing in pace. With channel partners like Lucent Technologies, we are now able to showcase the capabilities of the newest-generation mPhase TV+ System through a compelling demonstration model, and it has been shared with a number of European operators. We are deploying our system right now:

* Lucent Russia has selected the TV+ System to offer video and data services to a telecom services company for its Far East Region customers. The customer is one of seven regional mega-telecommunications operators in Russia owned by a single holding company serving 15 million residential customers. The initial pilot project completed through the Lucent sales channel is for 1,000 subscribers. We will be showcasing our solution with Lucent Russia at the Norwecom trade show in St. Petersburg, Feb. 22-26, 2005.
* We reached agreement with Turkey's foremost broadcaster, Kanal 7, for mPhase to provide the equipment and technical video expertise for the deployment of a TV-over-telephone network over the facilities of Turk Telecom, the soon-to-be privatized Turkish telecommunications company. Kanal 7 will organize and aggregate the content and manage the marketing of the services.

Finally, we witnessed an independent validation that the Telco TV market is poised for growth. Industry analyst firm ABI Research issued an upbeat assessment for players such as XDSL in its study, "TelcoTV Infrastructure & Service Integrator Opportunities abiresearch.com;

Sales Validate mPhase's Network Quality Assurance Expertise. With top-notch operators in key growth markets increasingly leaning on XDSL to ensure that their high-speed broadband network can sustain the quality as the mix of "triple-play" traffic -- meaning voice, data and video -- grows incrementally.

* We recorded a $1 million initial order from Saudi Arabia Telecom for our state-of-the-art Broadband Loop Watch(TM) System for automated system maintenance.
* EasyNet, a leading pan-European broadband networking company selected mPhase's core Intelligent POTS Splitter Solution (iPOTS1) for deployment. iPOTS1 provides the critical access that broadband network operators need to automatically test and maintain network quality.

Seeing is Believing -- Nanograss is almost invisible, but now you can see our nanobattery work for yourself. It's on the record. We've worked with two news outlets to put our proof of concept showing the nanobattery working on videotape. Two production companies, ScienCentral and MAX World News released video news items last week. The ScienCentral news clip will be aired on ABC TV affiliates nationwide and is also available on its web site sciencentral.com. MAX World News distributed its clip via satellite to science and technology editors at more than 500 local news stations. maxworldnews.com
