I see absolutely no reason for you denigrate the service of others.

I agree your servicemates are fine...except for those who aren't and there is no need to BS an old soldier about how wonderful everyone is. We all know you have your share of idiots and malcontents.
You may think that, "It's a different armed forces today, mainly because it's voluntary and we have great leadership", but that doesn't compute too well with Abu Ghraib and fragging officers' tents in Kuwait.

And yet I agree, your weapons are better and I'm happy for that...But here is one thing you cannot do that the 60s and 70s US Armed Forces were required to do...Deploy over one million men overseas world-wide. Things will look a wee bit different to you when you get that mission.

Further for your info...military drug testing began in the 60s not in the 90s. I would also point out that our Armed Forces are a microcosm of our society. Seldom better, seldom worse, and if there is a difference it levels off again quickly.

As for the draft. I certainly recognize it is but one solution. If another works, that is terrific. But so far you are merely projecting as am I. No need for you to get pissed off about my pointing out a recruiting shortfall for the last 4 months. Save some emotion in case things really go south with recruiting.

I do have confidence in our leaders. May I point out this is merely a discussion board. Feel free to skip over any discussion topic I raise that doesn't please you.

PS. I still like the idea of training sailors and airmen to fight like Infantry.
