Israeli settlers: "Kill, Enslave Non-Jews"
Tens of thousands of Israeli settlers gathered Monday in Jerusalem, protesting against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Gaza pullout plan, and asking him to put it to a national referendum.
The demonstrations is one of the biggest protests organised against Sharon’s disengagement plan that envisages dismantling four of 21 Gaza settlements and four from the West Bank this year.
Right-wing Knesset members, including some from Sharon's Likud party, were among those who gave speeches at the demonstration.
Thousands of Talmudic Jewish settlers participating in the demonstration demanded the Israeli government to apply "Jewish law" on non-Jews in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
"We call on the government to apply the Jewish religious law on all Goyem (derogatory for non-Jews). They have two choices, either accept Jewish supremacy or be expelled or killed,” said Noam Shabatai, from the settlement of Elon Moreh in the northern West Bank.
"This land belongs to the Jews, and non-Jews should submit to the will of the owners of this land, if a guest comes to your home, he should respect your sovereignty in your home," said the bearded settler.
The Israeli police stepped up security around Sharon’s office during the rally, fearing that ultra-nationalists might try to assassinate the Prime Minister.
Palestinian Arab were present in Palestine before the Jews came by nearly two thousand years, and most of the present Ashkenazi Jews have no connection with the early Israelites, many of whose descendants are Arab Christians and Muslims.
According to Pinchas Wallerstein, West Bank settler, Sharon’s disengagement plan did not reflect the will of the Israeli people. He called for a nation-wide referendum on the issue to prevent a "rift in Israeli society."
Protesters carried signs that read: "Let the people decide" and "Sharon is tearing the Israeli people apart".
Israeli settlers and right-wing hardliners claim that the West Bank and Gaza are the biblical birthright of the Jews. They warned previously that fierce clashes could break out between the Israeli settlers and the army during the implementation of the withdrawal plan. |
