If that be the case then it's my opinion that neither the Feds, Democrats or Repulicans, or the southern border States really want to stop the influx of illegals. It's all a bunch of rhetoric and none of them have the guts to stand up and say it. It wouldn't be popular.

The border control has been grossly underfunded for decades and any tweaks that show up from time to time are still wholly inadequate and they know it.

While it may be the role of the Feds to "protect the borders", there is no Constitutional prohibition that keep the States from acting in their own interests and patrolling the borders themselves, if they choose to.

Instead what they prefer to do, is allow the influx, beg for additional Federal $$$ and whine about the influx of illegals that they really want to come in. That's the best of all worlds, you get your illegals to work at subminium wage, complain about them to the voters, and get a few extra dollars in Federal funds.
