The increase in overall pounds of pesticides* applied across the three crops is due mainly to the need to apply more herbicides per acre planted to HT soybeans.* Roundup ready beans don't need any other herbicide and Roundup breaks up more quickly than other bean herbicides therefore doesn't pollute as much.
