Democracy DOES EXIST both in Iraq and Afghanistan. You say Afghanistan doesnt have it cause they grow OPIUM, what if I were to tell you WE dont have it cause we are THE WORLDS LARGEST USER OF OPIUM PRODUCTS. Who is the most guilty, the grower or the user? Also, ON THEIR OWN Afghanistan is working to reduce the opium crop BUT remember you GOTTA GIVE EM something to replace it with that is reasonably profitable. Now, as to Iraq, Democracy has been going on for over a year now, its just now starting to become OFFICIAL. When they finalize their constitution, presuming it runs along the lines we expect it will be SEALED. But, THE KEY to democracy isnt just a bunch of words, its the ACTIONS of the PEOPLE. If you watched them in the streets, I would say the PEOPLES ACTIONS sure looked like Democracy to me.
Now, as to the $$. When you get to be my age you will realize these fluctuations come and they go. The $$ aint going anywhere permanently cause we are and will be for generations the worlds largest USER of products and services. All those overseas threats look pretty HOLLOW if they lose our MARKET. Most of this huffing and puffing is pure politics. jdn
ps: Now, if you are looking for something to criticize Bush on and to hold him accountable to history, you ought to worry about UNCHECKED illegal immigration. Frankly, I dont think there is a heck of a lot Bush or any other President can do about it unless we wish to seal our borders MILITARILY, but he will get the blame. |
