I just came across this posting by a Presstek Sales Executive that introduced himself to the CTP Printers Fourm...quite impressive:

Greetings from Print '97! A re-introduction at Dave's request:

I am Mark Wendling, Sr. Sales Executive for Presstek. I am based in Atlanta, covering 12 Southeastern and Southwestern states. Prior to joining Presstek in March of 1996, I had a 16-year career with DuPont - Printing & Publishing. While there I enjoyed(?) a number of roles, with many years in sales, product management (digital proofing), a management role in field technical support, dealer channel development, and others. I have had the good fortune to get my feet wet in the conventional (analog film, proofing and plates) side of the business, then on to the electronics side of the industry just in time to catch the big wave. And now, back on the (bl)leading edge with Computer to Plate, Computer to Press, and Halftone Digital Proofing.

Presstek began by developing laser imaging systems and complementary thermal waterless plates for the world's first direct digital press, the Heidelberg GTO-DI. After that program, and its successor, the Heidelberg Quickmaster DI, were up and running, Presstek developed a stand-alone platesetter and a thermal plate for standard, wet offset presses. Earlier this year we moved into digital halftone proofing systems, using a modified version of our platesetter and consumables developed by Imation. We also now support several other digital press programs, such as the Omni Adast 29" DI press, and the future Scitex digital press.

Looking forward to continuing as a part of this excellent forum & hope to meet some of you at the show.
