ha. i love it.
Did you ever Find Neverland?
no, not yet but i hope to soon. i could use a little "johnny deppness" in my psyche.
Speaking of life slowing down, it always does for me when I travel, especially in the Third World. It is all about relationships and interaction.
there is a lot less money in the third world. consequently, there is more time and energy invested in building and maintaining relationships.
personal respect, kindness, helping each other with chores, tasks and problems becomes a form of commerce, livelihood and insurance coverage. it takes a village to meet the needs of living in a poor country. one individual can not survive alone and there is no vault in which to "park" or "hoard" goodwill like we do with money. an hour spent in developing understanding, practicing social skills, cultivating friendships, bonding with others and building trust becomes more valuable than an hour spent working for one peso.
i have a buddy who will often say at the end of the day, whenever we are sitting around on the dock socializing, "I love this job."
the pay is good too. <g>
