Bob,

I know, you can go crazy trying to sort it all out. For me, it helps to stand back a little and try to look at the "Big Picture". There's no question that Apple has been handled poorly for many years, but NOT in the last year and a half. Those years of poor handling are what forced a restructuring of Apple in the last year and a half, and I think it's the best thing that could have happened. Look at the current differences.

* Apple's sitting on top of the fastest hardware in the industry (by a margin) and in the next few months they will increase that lead measurably in both desktop and laptop. When was this ever true in the past? The 750 chips are going to kill. They beat the crap out of Intel's offerings, produce way less heat and are cheaper to produce. They work in laptops, forchisakes. Wintel laptops are miles away. The 600 series chips established superiority, but this came at a time when Apple was reorganizing, which helped to steal the thunder. But it certainly didn't go unnoticed.

* Apple has a revolutionary OS release a quarter away, coupled with an outstanding cross-platform developement system. When was this ever true in recent times? These restructuring blues we've had to put up with are essentially over. Soon we will get the payoff.

* Apple has a world class, kick-ass Board of Directors. When was this ever true?

* Apple has technology to create boxes as cheaply as Wintel. Another first.

* Apple has Jobs back. I'm aware that there's a lot of mixed opinion on this fact, but I think it's great.

Anybody that follows this company should have known this would be a tough year for Apple, but the majority of the foundation has now been laid and I believe we will reap the benfits soon.

Regards,

Scott
