"Thinking it worthwhile" is your spin on the scenario. It never occurred to me that there was any of that going on.

On one side you have people reacting against something they disagree with knee-jerk attack accompanied by the enlistment of others to follow suit. On the other side you have people reacting against something they disagree with by refusing to consider it accompanied by declining to offer it for the consideration of others. I don't see either as constructive. You could say that the liberal approach is worse because it is belligerent. Or you could say the conservative approach is worse because censorship/repression are worse than attack, which at least acknowledges the conflicting information and its advocate.
