Progen to trial melanoma compound

Biotech Progen Industries Ltd said it was planning a new Phase II clinical trial of its anti-cancer compound PI-88 on patients with advanced melanoma, in combination with the chemotherapy agent, dacarbazine.

Progen said the trial would involve the treatment of melanoma patients earlier than in current PI-88 studies, thereby significantly expanding the potential market for the drug.
