TS, that's why I said it would be an interesting short candidate. Your post is not surprising logically. It does raise issues of how scientific was the study and analysis.
I often take Airborne and other stuff like Cold Eze (not the spray - thanks to your posts LOL, and I hate spraying anything up my nose) before I get any symptoms. I figure it's all zinc, C, echinasea, ginger, etc., and no harm.
You are right though in that there SHOULD be a study, where you take people at the exact same stage. According to your post, it seems that each individual was subjectively free to "respond" when they felt the need to respond. I.e., I take the stuff early, someone else might take it, as you say, at the actual onset of a cold.
All in all, very typical and perhaps a less cynical attempt than many. Not to get totally disgusting here, but have you seen the studies for that medication that supposedly helps to get rid of nail fungus, and resulting brittle nails, etc.? There are possible side effects I think like liver or kidney issues (from my memory.) When I read the fine print on the study, the actual results weren't much better than probably a placebo and a certain percentage get better by themselves. The percentage of people that it actually helped after a year or more was pretty low. |
