No one says that everything's alright. Everyone, even Allawi, knows that this election was a major victory, but it doesn't mean the insurgents are finished.

The election was a resounding success and I will remind you that you and the other liberals on this thread were bleating a call to postpone the elections, because of security issues. Well, you were wrong. Elections were exactly what the Iraqis needed to show them that freedom is worth having. The courage they displayed will beget more courage. And courage is exactly what they will need as they face down the murdering insurgents that have declared war on their freedom and democracy.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 3 United States officials were surprised and heartened today at the size of turnout in South Vietnam's presidential election despite a Vietcong terrorist campaign to disrupt the voting.
