Z, Defense does make up 1/3 of our budget

According to the budget I got in the mail, we spent $357B on the military and $116B on homeland security. That's a total of $473B, which is 17% of total expenditures ($2.763T). Or if you exclude SS expenditures (which we really ought to be doing anyway, along with excluding SS revenues from the general budget), you'll end up with total expenditures of $2.262T, of which 21% is defense and homeland security.

Sorry, I don't have a link, but it's pretty clear to me that defense is NOT 1/3 of our budget.
