You can spot them easily when they start off a subject with "You think...", "You probably think..." and various language structures that amount to the same thing. As you so kindly illustrated in your most recent post. They put large groups of people in "boxes". This group thinks "a, b, and c"; this group thinks "x, y and z".

Yes that way they never have to ever even consider the points that the person they are addressing is making. That would take brain power. It's so much easier to put words in your opponents' mouths.

It's a sign of intellectual laziness and is very common on SI.
