I don't think Cisco would do that... It's not what they've done in the past... it brings back memories of them choking on Stratacom... I would find that highly surprising for Cisco to buy a NT or LU...

Regarding M&A in general with the telecom vendors... I think it absolutely will happen. Some will die others will be merged/acquired.... The landscape of today will look much different 3 years from now.

I don't think NT will be touched for some time. I am sure no one knows if there are any more remaining surprises. I would say LU is a likely candidate for acquisition if the stock remains around $3... With LU pricing higher than $4 I would say it becomes very unlikely she would be acquired.

Cisco will do some buying but with someone much smaller. Maybe something like Cisco/Adtran... Cisco/Sonus... don't know - I'm no expert here!

I predict acquirers: Cisco, Alcatel, Siemens, GE, NTT...

the acquirees: Ciena, Juniper, Riverstone, LU, Sonus...
