Sounds like the "CLash of Civilizations" appears to be a grandiose overreaction many Europeans, they would rather focus on promoting secular viewpoints (like Turkey)

Experince with Turkey for Europeans means first hand knowledge that Muslims are not unreachable extremists.

Of course, hardline US obserevers see 'extreme Islam' as Imperial Japan/ Josef Stalin / Microsoft - bent on world domination at any cost.
