Let me be the idiot to respond to you lorne.

The Iraqis want the US out of their country. Results from Iraq trickling in is certainly pointing in that direction since the Shiites are holding a significant lead over the US installed lackey "Allawi's" party. And what is significant is that Allawi, in spite of being a Shia is not prefered by his own Shiites since they view him not as a Shia but as a US implant.

So this "irrational exuberance" that your post portrays, would certainly be short lived. Remember this lesson, democracy does not speak through the barrel of a gun. It speaks through the hearts and aspirations of the general populace. Bush cannot impose democracy. After all, wasn't it he who said that the US soldiers would be welcomed with flowers by the Iraqis? Are we seeing that?

Wasn't it he who said there were WMDs in Iraq? Did we find any? Now he is again crying wolf and this time it is something that affects us Americans directly: Social Security. How many of us trust him when he says that SS is going bankrupt? Yeah right. Isn't this something similar to what he said about WMDs and Iraqis welcoming US troops yaadi, yaadi yaada.
