Bush is also an ideological aristocrat. He feels that you are born a certain way, annointed by God, privileged and destined to rule over serfs. This is how he felt as a young man and he hasn't matured one iota since his college days. He acknowledges that he does not know any poor people, he claims that people are poor because they are lazy and stupid and he wants the government to be for the rich who will then deign (or not) to help the poor (mebbe). So many people just don't get Bush. He's not a republican, he's a monarchist which is why his bestest buddies include Prince Bandar of SA. Bandar Bush openly claims that the problem with the USA is that it's not run like SA, a dictatorship. George of Arabia then openly claims that, as long as he's the dictator, it would be easier to have the US be a dictatorship. These aren't idle jokes or musings, these are the real thoughts of the President. They are horrendous and so many people simply ignore them as off-color or inappropriate jokes.
