but it would take you 28MB to print an 8x10 at 600dpi with pixel to pixel correspondence so, if you aspire to large prints and the sharpness of an 8x10 camera, I suppose one could keep going.

At some point, however, and I don't think it is far from those numbers, you will walk off the end of the ability of the optics to resolve that fine a detail, so let's hope that somewhere in here the attention begins to shift to something other than just more pixels.
