Some things can be done quite safely by most people while driving. Trying to discipline the kids, or having a fierce dispute with a spouse are best not done in parallel with driving. My personal observation is that the most dangerous thing about the radio-cassette is the shift of focus and frame of reference while changing station-tape-CD. Probably the most dangerous aspects of mobile phone use while driving are having to key in numbers, and entering or reading txt messages, for the same reason. The transmittal of images just ups the ante. Another issue is the way people converse. Some get very physically involved - waving their hands etc. - as if they were in a face-to-face conversation. That could entail risks. The painful truth is that there is a substantial fraction of the population who aren't safe behind the wheel under the best of conditions. Gib
