My point was that the boyfriends might themselves have the same first letter in their names, and then by that letter alone you could not distinguish the order, nor does it reduce the pool of letters for the next pick.

True enough. I read Cisco's question to mean the initials of a single boyfriend's name and assumed there was no alliteration. It's those ambiguous math questions that cause all the exam marking problems!
