>>A strictly stock site could DIE in a bad bear market.

- The number of SI users who post to political boards relative the number who post to the site overall is quite small.

Then why not simply kill all the political threads right now, throw off their posters, and be done with it? You claim we are far more trouble than we are worth. You lessen your work and lose no valuable members.

- There will be some level of integration between the sites.
Interesting language. What does "some level" mean?

The only reason for breaking up the site would be to charge for each piece.

It's unlikely the other sites will be subscription based. By providing topic-related sites, we'll be able to cater better to advertisers and attract users more easily.

That's EXACTLY what these useless grimy political threads do, buddy.

>>And the politicos- -they read the stock threads too. What if they can't without paying extra?

It doesn't cost anything to read posts here. It never has. And now free users can post up to five message a day in investment forums.

Why the investment threads if that's the desirable quality end? Why wouldn't you let them post free in other areas and force them to pay for access to that?

And why charge for the right to post on the grimy useless threads? Who'd want them?

And a busy broker in a hot bull market- -when there are lots of brokers- -likely wouldn't have time for more than 5 posts a day total anyway, so why pay?

>>Yahoo has boards for stocks and stocks boards that have turned into political war zones.

Yahoo stock boards are useless from a quality perspective... anarchy is the rule there.

You really want to hear my answer to that one? You're not going to like it.

You probably saw this, but I want to make sure. The irony is breathtaking!
