We talk about the divisiveness in our Country as evidenced by the different political threads on S.I. which if anyone chose to read them would reveal just how divided we are as a people..

It's not even a debate with posts that stir controversy. Rather it is a war with name calling, accusations and general hate coming through on the responses..

Those who like and support Bush, as I posted on one thread that is very pro Bush cannot take a criticism of their boy. IN fact they will go along with whatever he says as though it were from the lips of God. And maybe the fact that he has used the religious angle in his tenure we have that reaction.
They seem to be able to sort the wheat from the chafe. Lose all objectivity. For example are supporting Bush's new S.S. program revision in glee... Rather than being circumspect about it..

So, I don't think the fact GW may have cheated in the debates would have effected the outcome. The friends who I have who were for him were blind in their allegiance to him. No arguments... not even a significant criticism was allowed.

In fact one woman on Bill Lindy's thread in three separate posts when talking about the SOU.. said Gawd I love that man. I wish he would be able to run a 3rd term.

What one is dealing with here is blind faith...not eternal vigilance.. Ask no questions.........agree even though it may be dangerous to do so. I think the NY Times might have sensed this, reviewed what happened to Rather and desisted..out of FEAR ?
