<<The geologists realized that only one thing could cause this--a restless magma chamber. Yellowstone wasn't the site of an ancient supervolcano, it was the site of an active one. It was about this time that they were able to work out that the cycle of Yellowstone's eruptions averaged one massive blow every 600,000 years. The last one, interestinggly enough, was 630,000 years ago. Yellowstone, it appears, is due.>>>

Hardly worth considering- if pressure buildup is 30% slower or faster due to earth variables, the leeway could be 180,000 years plus or minus.

Chance of occurrence is then 1/180000 per year.
Even if it was known that that a volcano would occur within 2 years , what could or would be done.?

Vacate Wyoming? Move all the plains dwellers in Canada into somewhat safer appearing areas?

Compare that chance with the chance that terrorists can obtain and use a nuclear device . Once in 30 years perhaps , or even less. A 6000 times greater threat.

And action can be taken to reduce that threat, where nothing
has been proposed that could control such a volcano.

Even if Yellowstone rises 6 feet, or 12 feet, where is the brave soul, the psychic, all knowing individual who will call for vacating an entire State?
