Mark...i hope this is the question i have been two weeks behind in answering. i put it off because i did not wish to give a quick, flip answer and just did not have time to address it properly.

trade or hold these stocks for long term if business metrics stay the same-positive?

answer-i do different things mark. i am sure that does not help but let's assume initially we are talking about a company
that both exhibits positive fundamentals and is moving up in price. many times i will add stock as it rises. after all, a stock is rising for a reason. i have paid 2x initial purchases in some situations. sometimes i pull the trigger on a rise and sell into strength. sometimes i sell some part way up and continue as it rises.

Here's the key to it for me. i play it the way the price and volume is telling me too....in most cases. if i think the stock will continue to bear fruit i will buy in as it goes up...if the action is right. and the story is solid along with the numbers. if the actions is weaker i may get out after a bump. there are just too many variables to give a pat answer here...that's why i put it off.

Buying and holding in the BB world if the story remains solid and the stock is not rising-i hold and wait. if i think i have the story solid i will wait and add and add. some of my best paying plays come from holding onto a stock where everything looks good but investors just have not bot in yet. 9 times out of 10 they will eventually find the play. so i wait...one advantage here is getting over 1 year on your hold...and sooner or later the play develops.

Volatility is something we all have to deal with. again, knowing your company can make all the difference in how you play it. i will sell, buy, sell, buy if the price action allows it. i can screw around like that because i feel i know the company well enough to know it will end up going higher yet.

Any and all of the above comes down to one thing only....as to how you play a stock...you HAVE TO know the company to know how to play stalls and volatility. and you have to have a feel for the flow to be able to jump around on rises and falls.

So-two things. know your company very well, and develop a feel for ebb and flow ref the vol and price. none of that comes easy but does come with time.

hope this helps and again sorry to be so late.
