Honest questions for you tejek:
1) why do you defend Iran so much?

What makes you think I am defending them? The only positive I see with Iran is that it has the opportunity to become a democracy naturally if left alone. In spite of the fact that its a theocracy, there have been some positive developments in the past ten years. I think its current track will lead it to democracy.

2) do you honestly believe they have no intention to produce a nuclear weapon?

Its not that I don't believe they are trying to develop a nuclear weapon. They may or may not. Its that I don't think they pose a threat to the US or Israel.

3) do you honestly believe that a nuclear Iran poses no threat to the West and to the U.S. in particular?

Yes. I don't think they are stupid people. Stupid people might try to lob a missile our way. A smart person knows the response from the US would be disastrous for their country. I believe that if they are developing nuclear weapons, its to level the playing field against the US, the world's only superpower, and against Israel, the region's superpower.

4) how long would you wait with Iran before you would take military action?

Do you honestly think we have the military capacity to take on Iran at this time or the forseeable future?

5) is military action completely off the table for you wrt Iran?

Only if Iran doesn't attack us. If they do, then its a whole new ball game.

6) what kind of proof do you need before you'd take military action against Iran?

Frankly, I don't believe anything from this administration or Tony Blair. The proof would have to come from a Germany or a Sweden....someone more neutral.......to convince me.

When you answer the questions above, please try to put Bush out of your mind. Think about if we had Clinton in office or Kerry. What would you like for them to do, because they would have had to answer the questions above, except for # 1, if they were in power right now. These questions are non-partisan.

I can't put Bush out of my mind because he is the variable that most disturbs me. If it were Clinton or Bush I, I would not be nearly as cautious.
