And, to be honest, do you think that a label "progressive" belongs on the conservative side, assuming that a liberal/conservative dichotomy is even valid?
I don't think its valid.
I'm in favor of reducing access to firearms, keeping abortion legal, making it easier to fire teachers, measuring public school students performance using standardized tests, against providing parents with vouchers to give to the public school of their choice, downsizing government in general, forcibly promoting democracy throughout the world, nationalizing health care and providing universal access, making it easier for foreigners to immigrate to the US, and frankly I have no view on social security reform, because I don't even understand what the proposal is. I am against bilingual ballots, indifferent to gay marriage, against the minimum wage, in favor of free trade, indifferent to references to God on currency or public documents, in favor of abandoning the current UN and instead organizing a Union of Democratic Countries, supportive of the idea that the people of a region should be able to secede from a country if that is the will of the majority of the population (Kurds, Tibetans, Taiwanese, Chechens, etc.) and against affirmative action.
I also think that Americans should be encouraged to have more sexual partners in their lifetime! Sex is enjoyable and healthy, is a natural bodily need like eating food, and it shouldn't have the stigma (she's a slut!) that it currently has in the USA. Someone with lots of sexual partners should be considered outgoing and well liked by others, not morally inadequate.
So, am I conservative or liberal or progressive or fascistic or left of the central far right? |
