The thing that "discrdits" here is the fact that the Jewish Talmud mandates this practice and the fact that American Orthodox rabbis continue to practice this abomination from the Jewish Dark Ages.

But it's a very small number who do, and it's disappearing over time (it should definitely be outlawed).

There are plenty of things that we'd find offputting in the Jewish Bible, the Jewish Talmud, the Christian Bible, the Koran, and probably every other religious book. It doesn't mean we can condemn all religious (though I may deride them a bit).
