APPROPRIATIONS BILL FUNDS KITSAP AREA PROJECTS

Another Kitsap-area appropriations approved today was allocation of $500,000 to the Kitsap County Sheriff for the procurement of portable "Integrated Biometric Identification System" equipment that will allow for immediate identification of criminals and suspects. The system will help the county integrate its identification system with regional and national databases, including terrorist identities. Last year, $700,000 in federal funding was provided to initiate the purchase of the equipment in Kitsap County.
