It is ridiculous to have Social Security put into the pit of criminality that has been Wall Street. Fine let's build an economy of wages that supports this Social Security Trust Fund (SSTF) but let's pay as we go! Should not Bill Gates and Dick Cheney pay the same percentage of their annual salary as the guy behind the sporting goods counter at Wal-Mart? If they get to pay with IOUs collectable from the American people, that is NOT funding. Why is there a cap on Social Security at all? That's clearly regressive.

Any danger to SSTF comes from the exporting of high-paying jobs and a failure of the government to correctly account for its debt-based spending policies. Since Bush et al. have someone else's credit card number, they can say they feel pretty good about running up a debt while simultaneously calling it the most austere budget since Reagan because the new spending is going to the suppliers to the war effort and not our citizenry.
