Griesheim, Germany, 12 January 2005 — Hughes Network Systems Europe (HNSE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, Inc. (HNS), the world's leading provider of broadband satellite solutions, today announced the launch of a new dedicated Network Operations Centre (NOC) to be hosted at its European Teleport in Griesheim, Germany.
The new NOC will support additional satellite transponder capacity, which was brought on line in mid-December to satisfy HNSE’s customers’ growing demand for satellite broadband services, from enterprises to small offices to consumers, across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Strategically placed at 7 degrees East over the Gulf of Guinea, Eutelsat's W3A satellite covers the whole of sub-Saharan Africa, and provides direct connectivity to Europe and the Mediterranean Basin.
The new NOC will support broadband access, LAN interconnection, and IP Multicasting, with flexible service level options addressing the high-speed access and availability requirements of all market sectors. HNS Europe currently provides satellite solutions to over 40,000 remote locations via its existing comprehensive teleport in Germany.
“This investment in additional satellite network capacity reflects HNSE’s commitment to maintaining our position as the EMEA’s leading provider of broadband satellite services. It spearheads the development and introduction of new services, including higher in-route speeds, enhanced grades of service performance, as well as greater geographic coverage across EMEA,” said Michael Darcy, president of HNS Europe.
