There were no "text files" in use by the TANG in the early 1970's. Surely you remember back to the days before computers.

What they had was typewriters. Which produced documents by keys striking ribbons, which left an ink impression on paper.

I gather that you're trying to argue that the substance of the memos was accurate, even though the documents themselves were forged.

Given that the man in question is dead, and left no documents about the topic, we're stuck with "he said, she said". Such are the vicissitudes of history.
