Wangs were invented in 1976

They lied. I was there. Programs where you typed into a computer or a typewriter and where you stored the text on some magnetic medium and were able to recall it and make chnges to it and then print it over and over again were in widespread use way before 1976.

Perhaps they are referring to the marketing of a stand alone computer with one application called word processing and then calling the machine a word processor instead of a computer.

Nadine says that word processing really didn't take off until after the marketing of a floppy disk in 1972. Before then people were flying around the world carrying their text files on something called a removeable disk cartridge. It held 5MB of data or text. it was the size of a large pizza box.

But even before this IBM selectric typewriters (manual typewriters) had storage on magnetic devices (cards - a little larger than credit cards) that you could recall, edit, and print using different fonts.

How do I know, I was there.
