I think the key to long lasting mideast peace will be some recognition on israels part of trilateral jewish/islam/christian religious oversighin Jerusalem

I've heard that idea before. The UN partition of 1947 proposed something like it. It was unworkable then and is unworkable now, because Muslims are opposed on principle to sharing with other religions. If they shared 50-50 with Jews or Christians, that would be denigrating Islam, which is the ONLY true religion and DESERVES the top spot, with others allowed in ONLY with due regard for their lower status. That's how they think. When Muslims had full control over the Cave of the Patriarchs, they graciously allowed Jews to pray on the steps outside. Inside was for Muslims only. Now thanks to the Israelis, all faiths can get inside to pray.
