Marriage is the way our societies legitimize and recognize a relationship. Marriage does fill an emotional and social need for the couple as well as the society at large who thereby recognizes their union. You are right about this Fresc but there is more.. There are the financial,health and insurance benefits that are also a plus for the legalization of something with the title Marriage attached. I once had a course with a Family Therapist who taught the class by having everyone be a member of a family. He called a family anything with two or more people. They could be of any sexual proclivity. If they LIVED together they were in his methodology a family... including the dogs, cats, birds etc. They all came to family therapy... I once had a family divorcing. They use their daughter to communicate to one another. Tell your mother this.. the father would say.Tell your father this... the mother would say. The poor daughter was losing her mind. IN another family they spoke through the dog... HMMMMM FAMILY ... what is a FAMILY..?
