The leadership may well be from the well-off classes -- but the rank and file, the ones asked to drive a car into a crowd a flip a switch and meet the virgins, are more likely to be recruited from the ranks of the disaffected masses. OBL cut his teeth leading "freedom fighters" -- he was a financier and leader. But you can bet your rent that those he led were not all born with a silver spoon in the mouth.
