I don't see the connection to market cap, although I can see it being related to "size" in some other measures. I think that Google's business model (so far, at least) makes them less subject to this. There is, by the way, no secrecy about technical things within the company (at least that's what I've been told). Why is Google's secrecy impeding industry growth? I'm not following this, either.
