Stephen, Hard to say about ego banging in the Apple board. If the people are effective managers they will adjust and work together.
If Apple does not get going in a smart way, then Apple might end up in someones pocket. If the stock gets cheap buyers will appear. Motorola and IBM will be able to justify the highest payments, but IBM may be warned off by antitrust problems, leaving Motorola as the winner. But Japanese interests may intrued and pay more tha Motorola is willing to pay, Apple is bigger Japan than elsewhere due to the graphic strenght and Japanese is a graphic language, and the Japanese high cost distribution methods subsumed the Apple price premium and Apple sold on merits alone and beat the Wintels there.(this has changed in the past 2-3 years and Apple has eroded there as well, but still robust in Japan)
