NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of Dell Inc. (DELL) fell 2.6% to $40.49 in the late trading session after the company's fourth-quarter revenue missed Wall Street's expectations.

For the period, the computer systems company earned 26 cents a share on revenue of $13.46 billion, compared with year-ago earnings of 29 cents a share on revenue of $11.51 billion. On a pro forma basis, earnings were 37 cents a share.

Wall Street had expected the company to earn 36 cents a share on revenue of $13.54 billion.

The company also said it expects first-quarter earnings to come in at 37 cents a share on revenue of $13.4 billion, compared with analysts estimate of 36 cents a share on revenue of $13.5 billion.
