that's the thing. unless you're an expert on the subject, how can you have any clue as to the validity of somebody's claim. i asked a friend with an MS degree in molecular biology, he said,

"That 90% fatality rate seems wrong. Have you heard that anywhere else? How do you gauge whether people have contracted it and only experienced flu symptoms before recovering? Seems like you would have to perform genetic studies on all cases of flu occurring in a region, which is not likely to occur in Southeast Asia."
